Legislators from Kampala under their umbrella body Kampala parliamentary forum are concerned with the manner in which President Yoweri Museveni is dishing out cash to youth in their areas of representation without their consent.
To them, the president has been duped in this cash bonanza; arguing that the beneficiaries are not known to their areas of representation and the majority are above the age of the youth as stipulated in the constitution.
This, as other non benefitting MPs say the cash should be distributed throughout the country.
Last week, President Museveni dished out 100 million shillings and working machines worth billions of money to a number of youth groups in Kampala in a bid of empowering them to fight poverty in the city.
But to the led by Lubaga North legislator Moses Kasibante, the source of the money being dished out should be explained to the house.
These MPs pinned the Minister for Kampala Beti Kamya for being behind the ploy to dupe the president and sneaking into their constituencies without their consent.
“I will lay here on the table tomorrow- the letters to members of parliament who have been invited to government programs and they have never responded to them,” Kamya said
Asked on whether its Bobi Wine pressure forcing the President to dish out money to the youth in Kampala, Minister Kamya said she was shocked that instead of MPs thanking government for such a fruitful initiative, are questioning his good will.
