VIDEO: Ghetto Youth thank Bobi Wine for president Museveni’s initiative, donation

A section of youth from the Gheto have lavished praise on Kyadondo East Member of parliament, Robert Kyagulanyi Ssentamu alias Bobi Wine for making their plight known to the entire world and President Museveni.

According to the youth, their voices are ringing loud bells touching the hearts of many including the fountain of honour who yesterday donated equipment worth millions of shillings to various carpentry and welding saccos in Katabi, Najjanankumbi, Namasuba, Kibuye,Nateete and Busega, under his current Gheto Initiative.

“We thank Bobi Wine for letting the president know about our plight in the Gheto. Museveni has not helped us for the long time he has been in power. We have been injecting out own money to do odd jobs and survive,” said Sserunjogi Dauda from Kimombasa Gheto.

Unfortunately for the youth trapped in abject poverty, there is no way out of the box with fears that the rich will grab this presidential initiative project.

“I would be happy with Museveni’s initiative, but that money he has given Gheto youth will end up in other people’s hands. The real people it is meant to help wont even touch a coin,” Mugambe Ashraf said.

While making the donations, President Museveni blamed opposition leaders in Wakiso and Kampala for politically disorienting the youth instead of helping them fight unemployment and poverty.

He said that their main job is to fight him instead of working for the people who voted for them.

“In entire Wakiso you only remained with only one eye that is [Rosemary] Sseninde. The district is big and should have been with helped if you had voted for NRM leaders. What you did was a mistake,”Museveni said on Thursday in Katabi.

“The Members of Parliament you have always been electing are not helping you. I am helping these youths on my own behalf. The MPs in Kampala have not helped youths but only focused on fighting me.”

Museveni said that it is the role of the leaders to help fight disorientation among the people, a thing he said will help fight poverty and unemployment.

he said that Uganda’s biggest problem is not unemployment and poverty but rather sleeping.

He said that Ugandans are to blame for their own problems for not waking up to tackle them.

“Uganda is a rich country because according to URA, we import goods worth US$5 billion every year yet the same can be manufactured here,” he said.

The State House Comptroller, Lucy Nakyobe revealed that Museveni would roll out the program of supporting youth and women saccos and projects all over the country as the fight against unemployment and poverty rages on.
