VIDEO: Supporters should not use music shows to settle political differences- Kato Lubwama

Lubaga South Member of parliament and artiste, Kato Lubwama has lashed out at specific people who are using musical concerts and shows to settle political differences, he says these are spoiling the music industry.

Lubwama was speaking to NBS TV following last week’s incident involving self proclaimed Big Size singer Moses Ssali alias Bebe Cool and supporters believed to be of his nemesis Robert Kyagulanyi Ssentamu alias Bobi Wine.

Bebe Cool was pelted with stones and bottles to chase him off stage during a musical concert for Jamaican star Tarrus Riley. Revellers argued that the singer has been badmouthing Uganda’s political hotcake- Bobi Wine.

However, Kato Lubwama, an actor and singer as well condemned the acts of such supporters because they are putting the music industry in bad light.

“I condemn such behaviour, they are spoiling our music industry, why didn’t they wait for the show to end then go fight elsewhere. This is a performance and such acts are only taking the music industry backwards,” Lubwama said.

Lubwama said stoning Bebe Cool is the beginning of impertinence precedence that fans want to exhibit towards different artistes that don’t share their political views.

“Our field has had different stars and fans have never behaved with such impudence before. Our industry must be respected just like churches and religion; do you see people fight there because they don’t agree with the preacher?” Lubwama said.

Lubwama also took some time off to advise bickering singers Bobi Wine and Bebe Cool to be selective in what they speak. He called upon the two to behave like leaders because at the end, fans are like wind and they come and go.

The MP lashed out at promoter Abbey Musinguzi alias Abiteks for the comments he made citing that Bebe Cool would not be called to any events until people relax their loathe for the singer.

“Abiteks is only expanding the row between Bebe Cool and Bobi Wine, who is he? He hasn’t even contributed to the music industry except withdrawing money from it. How many songs has he sang? How many concerts has he organised for Bebe Cool, he should not cause chaos in the music industry,” Lubwama said.

Abiteks however lashed back, saying of all people to reprimand him, Kato Lubwama should be the last because he doesn’t even pay artistes who come to his concerts.

“I did nothing wrong, all I said is that Bebe Cool should apologise to the fans and be allowed to sing,” he said.
