Borussia Dortmund Held To A Goalless Draw Away At Hannover

Bundesliga

Borussia Dortmund’s decent start to the Bundesliga season was halted by a a goalless draw away at Hannover 96. Dortmund made easy work of RB Leipzig in their 4-1-win last weekend but, Hanover made it a little harder for the Westphalians.

Lucien Favre’s men were completely tamed by the Hanover midfield despite going closer to scoring on 3 occasions.

Skipper, Marco Reus, threatened Hannover twice before halftime as the visitors were denied twice by woodwork.

A golden chance went begging as Bobby Wood found himself clean through, but lost his footing as Diallo recovered allow Roman Bürki to pounce on the loose ball in the dying minutes of the game.

This becomes the first goalless draw in 53-hmeetings between Hannover 96 and Borussia Dortmund. While Dortmund rue the missed chances, Andre Breitenreiter and Hannover, on the other hand, are much more content with the point.

Former Barcelona striker Paco Alcacer, who joined Dortmund on Tuesday, was not named in the squad but should be ready for next week’s game against Eintrach Frankfurt at home on another Friday Night.

The result means Dortmund can lose top spot to Bayern if the Bavarians can win away at VfB Stuttgart
