VIDEO: Kassiano Wadri swears in  as Arua Municipality MP

The Deputy speaker Jacob Oulanya has sworn in Kassiano Wadri Ezaati as the newly elected Member of Parliament for Arua Municipality.

Wadri was in company of his daughter and opposition legislators

At exactly 11:30 am, Oulanya headed for his office boardroom to to officiate at the long awaited swearing in ceremony.

At exactly 11:40, Kassiano Wadri took oath amidst ululation from opposition legislators.

“The rules have changed a little, read them, and parliament resumes next week,” Oulanya.

Oulanyah, after handing over instruments of power to Arua municipality legislator, hailed the institutions of government that have enabled this process to take place.

“The mere fact that you have been allowed to swear in gives us confidence that things cans till go well in this country,” he said

Immediately after taking oath, Kassiano Wadri intimated that he was working with his lawyers to reverse the court decision that banned him from accessing his constituency for three months.

“Three months is quite a long time for any legislator, we shall go back on the drawing board with my lawyer on this decision,” Wadri said.

Kassiano Wadri Ezati replaces the former Arua Municipality MP, Ibrahim Abiriga who was gunned down by unknown assailants in June this year in Matugga, Wakiso district, a short distance from his home.
