President Museveni has claimed that injured legislators; Kyadondo East MP Robert Kyagulanyi Ssentamu alias Bobi Wine and Mityana Municipality MP, Francis Butebi Zaake sustained injuries as a result of their reactions upon arrest.

According to State Minister for planning, David Bahati, Museveni made the statements during a caucus meeting with legislators from the ruling National Resistance Movement (NRM), at State House Entebbe, Monday.

Bahati says Museveni explained how Zaake and Bobi Wine assaulted officers first before they were overpowered and arrested, in due process, they could have sustained the different injuries that confined them to their respective health situations.

“It is true that during the caucus the president said that there are some among the MPs that tried to fight the army during arrest,” Bahati said.

Another of the legislators that attended the caucus told Nile Post that Museveni informed them that Bobi Wine first sparred with an officer before jabbing him. He said that the SFC officer would later contain Bobi Wine and arrest him.

On the side of Zaake, the President told the caucus that the Mityana MP went wild, resisting arrest but he would soon be quelled.

“Why is it that Kassiano Wadri and the rest were not beaten?” the legislator reportedly quoted Museveni.

Museveni in a letter last week claimed that Hon. Zake's colluded with nurses to escape from the hospital in Arua where he had been taken "after his violent confrontation with the security forces".

He also pointed out Bobi Wine and Zaake, whom he accused of not only engaging in combat with soldiers, but showing bad faith through changing from one hotel to another suspiciously.

Museveni in the same letter exonerated Kassiano Wadri from the chaos, but instead wondered why he was in company of such people.

“Kassiano Wadri, on the other hand, who should not have been in the company of such violent people, did not change residences and did not engage in hand to hand combat with security forces, from the reports I got,” he said.

The army upon arresting Bobi Wine and Zaake, maintained that the two legislators suffered injuries because they engaged in a fight with officers who came to arrest them

President Museveni in the same spirit praised his elite force SFC for exhibiting high skills and discipline) in containing the Arua fracas that saw the stoning of one of his convoy cars.

During a narration to relatives and friends, Bobi Wine said that SFC officers found him in his room where he was watching news, he went down on his knees and raised his hands up, but the officers pounced on him, rolled a blanket around him and pummeled him.

Zaake on the other hand has not yet told his story, however, doctors say he has so much pain in his spine and could suffer permanent diability.
