Pride at stake as Onduparaka, KCCA FC clash

Asaf Mwebaze eyeing first Silverware as Onduparaka FC boss in Super Eight final against KCCA FC.

Ondupraka FC head coach Asaf Mwebaze will be going for gold when he leads his troops against KCCA FC in the final of the FUFA super eight cup at Wankulukuku on Saturday.

Even if the former Maroons FC boss has spent just a handful of days with his new players in Arua, the vocal tactician sees a realistic chance at beating the Kasasiro boys to this preseason trophy.

‘We want to see a development and will put up a great performance, I have been working with the team for close to a week now. There’s nothing you can do in a week. You can’t change so much in 7 days. But we are confident a win is our target “

The health of some of his key players is however at odds with Mwebaze’s ambition.

Injuries to striker Ceaser Okhuti and Midfielder Gaddafi lessen the coach’s options in those areas against one of the deepest squads in local football.

On the other side, KCCA FC’s Mike Mutebi highlights the progression of his opponents over the years but remains confident as ever. With a myriad of options in his squad, Mutebi will settle for nothing short of a win.

“We are going to play to win but in the finals anything can happen there’s no option.

Onduparaka is the most progressive team for the last 3 seasons. We are going to play a team that is very competitive and very good. For us it’s business as usual we are going to play good football. We are going to play a good game playing a side that plays attacking football and everyone is going to be away it’s a good thing for both sides. I expect a very good match “.

KCCA FC sailed to the Super eight final with a 4-0 whitewash of Nyamityobora in the first semi while Onduparaka F.C were made to work harder for their slot following a tense and dramatic penalty shoot-out 5-4 win over Moses Basena’s Sports Club Villa at the Green Light Stadium in Arua after the two sides played out to a one all draw.

The winner of tomorrow’s final will take home 10 million Uganda shillings while the runner up will get half as much.
