Arua Election Chaos Ad Hoc Committee Recommends Immediate Medical Attention for Bobi Wine

A parliament of Uganda ad hoc committee has recommended for the immediate evacuation of detained Kyadondo East Member of Parliament Robert Kyagulanyi (Bobi Wine) from Makindye barracks.

One of the committee members Allan Ssewayana said that the detained legislator needs urgent medical care.

Other members of the committee are chairperson Doreen Amule, Medard Sseggona, and Andrew Arja. The committee was constituted by the Speaker of Parliament Rebecca Kadaga on Wednesday, August 15, 2018.

The committee was tasked to file a report to parliament on the chaos that erupted on the eve of the Arua Municipality by-election that saw Independent candidate Kassiano Wadri emerge victorious.

A day before the election President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni's convoy was allegedly stoned as he left the scene of his last rally for National Resistance Movement (NRM) candidate Nusura Tiperu.

By press time, committee chairperson Doreen Amule was in a closed door meeting with Defence Minister Obia Kania. Amule was yet to sign off on the recommendations authored by the other committee members.
