Youth urge government to address their issues

AMINAH NABUKENYA

Students at Kyambogo University have urged government to urgently address the challenges the youth face if they are going to make a contribution to the development of the country.

They made the plea during a meeting with officials from Reproductive Health Uganda (RHU) at the university on Friday.

The students also proposed that taxation of actvities that bring income to the youth should be stopped.

The students said there was exploitation of the youth in the labour market pointing out that some of them who seek employment outside end up being harassed without government intervention.

The students said that some of the challenges they face are: rapid change of the world where people have become selfish, rapid change in technology etc..

The RHU director of programmes Dr.Peter Ibembe said the reason the organisation is engaging the youth is to empower them on how to stand up for their rights and how to avoid vices like alcoholism.
