Kyadondo East legislator, Robert Kyagulanyi Ssentamu alias Bobi Wine will again break ranks with Forum for Democratic Change (FDC) strongman, DR Kizza Besigye to set up another mouthwatering political clash in Arua Municipality by-elections.

Kyagulanyi confirmed to Nile Post that he will be in Arua this weekend in bid to ensure the ruling party does not reclaim the seat that was previously occupied by party fanatic Ibrahim Abiriga.

The singer cum politician heads to the West Nile capital to back Independent (FDC leaning) former Terego County legislator, Kasiano Wadri. Bobi Wine’s move further escalates the division in opposition which has pitied Wadri against his official party the FDC.

Wadri towed the independent line after he failed to convince the major opposition party (FDC) to organise fresh primaries, the party instead preferred to proceed with the initial flag bearer, Bruce Musema

Kyagulanyi will add to the number of opposition leaders who have opted to back Kasiano among whom include; Former FDC president Mugisha Muntu, Jinja East MP Paul Mwiru and a litany of FDC Members of Parliament.

Besigye on the other hand will be leading the pack in the vote hunt for FDC’s Musema who is giving another shot at the seat after a protracted battle with the late Ibrahim Abiriga left him with no political life.

Meanwhile, jailed former Arua Municpality legislator Hussein Akbar Godi has also backed Kasiano for the post. Speaking from confinement in Kigo prison, Godi said Kasiano is the best leader to represent Arua people.

“I want my people of Arua to know that I am in good spirits and I am with them in the move to take Wadri (Kasiano) to parliament. In him, I saw a leader worthy to represent our people,” Godi said.

The former MP said he has been told of attempts by one of the candidates to manipulate his family members to dupe the public.

“One of the candidates took my sister along for nominations and claimed she was representing me but I want to make it categorically clear that I am routing for Wadri as the next MP” said Godi.

The Arua Municipality byelection has attracted competition from NRM’s Nusra Tiperu, FDC’s Bruce Musema and Kasiano Wadri on the independent ticket.

The seat fell vacant following the murder of Ibrahim Abiriga.
