Museveni meets Ashanti King and Kabaka, commends both on preserving customs

President Yoweri Museveni yesterday met Kabaka Ronald Muwenda Mutebi and his counterpart, the Ashante King Asantehene Otumfuo Nana Osei Tutu II at State House Entebbe.

Dressed in a traditional Kanzu and black jacket, Kabaka Mutebi led his colleague from Ghana who dressed in the traditional Kente cloth in state house where they held private meetings with President Museveni.

“. I congratulate Kabaka Mutebi on his 25th coronation anniversary where the Asantehene was a special guest,” Museveni said after the meeting

“As governments are busy focusing on roads and other such infrastructure developments, cultural leaders play the important role of preserving customs and the identities of the people. I welcome the Ashanti King to Uganda and wish him a fruitful stay here,” he added.

Museveni then presented the two leaders with books authored by himself, on his part Asantehene also gifted Museveni with a book on the Ashanti kingdom as well as his own pair of Kante cloth.
