We were beaten at experience by Esperance, says KCCA's Mike Mutebi

KCCA FC coach Mike Mutebi has blamed his team's  loss  on Tuesday in the Caf Champions League to  lack of experience by his players.

The Ugandan representatives gave away a two nil lead only to be beaten 3-2 by Tunisian and African giants Esperance in Tunis on Tuesday evening.

KCCA FC took the lead only 18 minutes through Jackson Nunda before skipper Khalil Chammam connected into his own net, four minutes later for the visitors to be up.

The visitors however squandered the lead in a space of only four minutes when Belel Magri opened the scoring on the half hour mark and three minutes later, Saad Gbuir levelled matters in Tunis.

The two time champions and four time runners up summed up the game only   eight  minutes to the final whistle when  Magri completed  a brace to silence the Ugandan representatives.

Speaking during the post -match press conference, Mutebi said his players were both naivety and inexperienced that this cost his team dearly.

“They deserved the win because they were slightly better than us. Because of the naivety and inexperience of our kids, we lost the game,”Muteni said.

“Others wise, with more experience, we would have held onto that two nil lead or even after equalizing we could have taken the lead. They had slightly better experience than we do.”

Branding his team as a novice, the KCCA tacticians said in all angles his team was trying to compare with their Tunisian giants but said at the end, Esperance took the day.

“That’s why you saw we were not defensive but attacking them.”

Mutebi however noted that the team would build on the experience from the Tuesday game to lift themselves up for the return leg game in Kampala on July 28.

“When we go back home we shall try to play with confidence and try to win. We are going to do our level best and also use the home advantage and try to win,” he said.

In another group A game, record champions Al Ahly beat Botswana’s Township Rollers three nil in a game played in Cairo.

Esperance are still top of group A on seven points, three above second placed Al Ahly whereas Ugandan representatives KCCA FC have only three points.
