Bishop Stuart University dragged to court over favouritism

Education

Bishop Stuart University has been dragged by one of its students on argument of what he termed as favouritism of the Anglican community in electing student leaders.

The Mbarara based University was set up by the West Ankole diocese which gives it the Anglican foundation although its rules and regulations postulate that the University is open to people of all kinds of religious affiliations.

The student, Deusdedit Bwenge has now taken action through M/s Butagira and Co. Advocates and dragged Bishop Stuart University to court arguing that they have persistently favoured Anglicans yet the rules and regulations at the University state otherwise.

" The University has persistently favored Anglicans for all the top eight positions. The rules and regulations state it clearly that the guild elections are free to all students irrespective of their religious affiliation and am standing on behalf of several others whose cries were not heard,” Bwenge told reporters in Mbarara.

Court has now ordered Bishop Stuart University to appear in court tomorrow July 18th, 2018 to answer these allegations by the student.

We shall keep you posted about all the court proceedings.
