The Lohana Development Indian Community has constructed a girl’s dormitory worth Shs 60 million for St Anthony Secondary School in Nakasongola district.
St Anthony is a church funded school that helps the rural poor to access education but the shelter has been a challenge.
At the function to handover the dormitory, Margaret Komuhangi, the Woman MP for Nakasongola district said a number of students have been dropping out of school therefore such a donation and support is what keeps a girl child in school.
She said in Nakasongola district there is a problem of high drop out rate especially among the girl child because many schools lack basic facilities like toilets.
Jyotsna Ruparelia, a member of the board of trustees for the Lohana community said they are already sponsoring 16 girls.
