Gen Muhoozi meets Somalia army CDF

Major General Abdweli Jama Hussein the commander of Somalia National Armed forces has paid a courtesy visit to his Ugandan counterpart Gen David Muhoozi.

The meeting was held at the UPDF headquarterrs Mbuya,Kampala on Friday.

Gen. Muhoozi told his guest that by deploying in the peace keeping mission in Somalia,Uganda is fulfilling one of its security mandates of ensuring regional peace and stability.

On the other hand , Gen Abdweli Jama applauded Uganda for the continued support to AMISOM and helping towards capacity building of the Somalia National Army .

The two army Generals also discussed regional security and intelligence sharing among between the two countries.

The meeting was also attended by the UPDF Joint Chief of Staff Maj. Gen. Joseph Musanyufu.

Uganda is the largest troop contributor of the 22,000 strong AMISOM force since 2007, contributing roughly 80 percent of the number.

Uganda was the first country to deploy troops under AMISOM in 2007.

Recently,the UPDF started scaling down the number of troops deployed in Somalia as had been resolved by the United Nations Security Council.
