Presidency Minister Orders RDCs to Stay Put Until Further Instruction

The Minister in charge of Presidency Esther Mbayo has ordered that all Resident District Commissioners and Deputies should stay at their current work stations and ignore the transfer lists circulating on social media.

The statement released by Mbayo reads, “As minister in charge of the presidency, I wish to inform the Resident Commissioners and Deputy Resident District commissioners to stay their work Stations and carry out their functions and responsibilities normally.”

The minister’s statement has been backed up by a statement from the Uganda Media Centre Executive Director and National Resistance Movement spokesperson Ofwono Opondo. Opondo states, “"This is to inform all RDCs and Deputy RDCs to stay and continue working at their duty stations where they have been.”

Opondo’s statement goes on to instruct, “Newly appointed RDCs and Deputy RDCs should also stay where they are until office of the President calls them to pick their appointment letters and posting instructions. Those affected by the transfers should in the meantime prepare their handover reports."

This comes at the heels of a statement that was issued by the presidential spokesperson Don Wanyama on the reshuffles of RDCs and their deputies. The first list which was issued on 15 June was marred with controversies especially the articles used to appoint RDCs as well as the dead people who were appointed as RDCs.
