UK HipHop God Fathers in Kampala for World Music Week

UK hiphop stars; Rodney K, also known as Riddim Killa and Skitz are in Kampala for the annual Fête De La Musique event slated for 23rd June at the French Music School, Lugogo Bypass.

The event that is celebrated worldwide was founded in Paris in 1982 by Jack Lang who was French Minister of Culture at the time. The event aims to promote music and encourage artists to perform in public spaces for free.

The event has been a huge success in France and expanded worldwide. Fête de la Musique is now celebrated in over 120 countries. In Uganda, it has been an anticipated event that takes place annually in the month of June and has been so for over 10 years, contributing diversity to the cultural scene of Kampala.

This year, the event brings together rising talents, the lady MCs of Kampala like MC Yallah, K’Van and Recho Ray, and The Godfather of London Hiphop, Rodney P alongside his producer Skitz. The duo is said to be in studio with Ugandan artists like Navio and Vampino, something we hope will elevate Ugandan hiphop even more.
