Lady Cardinals pip Olila Women in FUFA Women Cup

Skipper Maureen Kinavudori was on target twice as the UCU Lady Cardinals sealed a berth in the finals with a 2-1 win over reigning champions Olila Women in the FUFA Women's Cup at UCU Mukono.

The semifinal match up was a repeat of last year where Olila edged their counterparts with a similar score line, however this was after a shootout. Olila went on to clinch the title.

In the early stages of the game Olila had the better of goalscoring open cut chances but failed to utilize them fully as they looked blunt in the final third of the pitch.

The hosts used their opportunities well taking the lead through Kinavudori's open header and moments later added a second one which sealed the victory.

In the dying minutes Norah Alupo scored a consolation goal for the visitors that somehow this increased intensity in the game.

Now, the Lady Cardinals await the winner between Muteesa 1 Royal University and the She Corporates from today's second semifinals which will be played at Wankulukuku.

The finals will take place on 23 June in Bushenyi district.
