Lorry hits Karuma bridge, plunges into River Nile

The driver of a Fuso lorry registration no UAS 994Y last evening lost control and plunged into River Nile at Karuma bridge.

According to DPC Kiryandongo, Okello Charles, the vehicle was carrying logs of wood and is said to have had two occupants.

The driver reportedly survived with serious injuries and is now receiving treatment in Lacor hospital. He has been identified as Adam Nabwisho

The other occupant, said to be the owner of the logs, is yet to be identified.

A police team was seen trying to search for the lorry but its efforts were hampered by heavy foggy which made visibility difficult.

By press time, the vehicle had not been recovered.

This is the third accident along the Kampala-Gulu highway following that of Erute North MP, Angiro Gutumoi and the fatal one of Gaaga bus where more than 22 people lost their lives.
