Muslim were on Monday evening treated to a sumptuous Iftar dinner as they broke the fast, courtesy of Sheraton hotel Kampala.

Speaking at the function, the veteran Islamic cleric Suleiman Kakeeto asked believers to use the fasting period to pray for stability of the country.

"We should pray to the Almighty for peace and stability in the country,"Sheikh Kakeeto urged.

The country is currently facing a wave of kidnaps and subsequent murders since the beginning of this year following the brutal killing of Susan Magara,a cashier with Bwendero diary farm in Hoima district.

Kakeeto urged believers to continue with the good behaviour even after the end of the holy month of Ramadan.

He said those who have fulfilled the pillar of fasting will be rewarded abundantly.

"Everyone who has been fasting will be rewarded and will not be thirsty until they enter paradise,"Sheikh Kakeeto said.

"During this month of Ramadan, doors of heaven will be opened and those for hell will be closed."
