Fr.Jacinto Kibuuka, the Bishop of the Antiochian Eastern Orthodox Church has denied media reports of leading officers from the Special Forces Command and allegedly raiding the home of Papal Nuncio, Archbishop Blume who is the special representative of Holly Father Pope Francis in Uganda.

There were media reports claiming that Fr.Kibuuka led operatives from SFC to invade the home in 2015, a few months before the visit of the Pope in Uganda.

However, in a self- initiated interview, Kibuuka denied the reports as baseless and unfounded rumors meant to tarnish his name among the public.

He said he was made part of the National Organising Committee for the Papal visit by Archbishop Cyprian Kizito Lwanga before he was introduced to the committee in charge of security for the visit.

“I was introduced to one police officer at the rank of Assistant Commissioner of Police and a UPDF officer who were leading the committee and were to inspect all venues that the Pope was scheduled to visit,”Fr.Kibuuka told the Nile Post.

“I spoke to him(Archbishop Lwanga) about the venues to be inspected and he gave me a go ahead to lead the committee to Munyonyo(martyrs shrine),Rubaga cathedral, Rubaga hospital and Kololo independence grounds.”

On the issue of going to the home of the Papal Nuncio, Kibuuka said he went to the home in Mbuya on behalf of the security committee but only found the secretary to the Nuncio who asked him to register the names of those who were to visit the home for inspection.

“I was surprised when the Nuncio returned later that day to call me for an explanation on why the committee members had wanted to visit his home,”he said.

He however noted that no soldier went to the home of the Papal Nuncio as had been claimed by some media outlets.

When contacted about the same, Special Forces Command spokesperson Captain Jimmy Omara said he could not comment on what he termed mere allegations which are unfounded.

“The Special Forces Command will continue to do its role of protecting Ugandans as it has always done .No one will divert us from this core mission,”Capt. Omara told the Nile Post.
