KCCA keep title hopes alive with Tax collectors’ massacre

Defending champions KCCA FC went wild and tore apart tax collectors Uganda Revenue Authority in a nine goal thriller to keep their title hopes alive in the Azam Uganda Premier League on Tuesday evening at Lugogo.

Former Onduparaka FC striker Muhammad Shaban was the man of the moment after a fine display that saw him score four times against the tax collectors as KCCA FC made a bold statement about their intensions to retain the title.

Paul Mucureezi, Allan Okello and Patrick Kaddu were all on the score sheet as the home side beat URA 7-2 in a battle for supremacy at Lugogo on Tuesday.

URA scored through Jimmy Kulaba 27’ and Said Kyeyune 79’ but these were not enough to match the Kasasiro boys who were raring to go.

Vipers win it late

Kitende based Vipers SC also maintained pressure on table leaders SC Villa dethroning them after beating new league entrants Masavu FC one nil in the Entebbe derby.

Two late strikes in the added minutes from Pius Wangi and Milton Karisa were enough to separate the hosts from the visitors at the St.Mary’s stadium and win the games 3-1.

Earlier, Vipers had taken the lead at home through Tom Matsiko in the 62nd minute but matters were levelled eight minutes later through an Ivan Lubaale volley.

Vipers are top of the Azam Uganda Premier League on 49 points, level with second placed SC Villa, the former with a better goal difference whereas KCCA FC are third on the log, only a point below the top two teams after 24 games.

In the relegation zone is Mbarara City, Express FC and Masaavu in the 14th, 15th and 16th positions respectively.
