Express fined one million shillings for hiding balls during Premier League game

The FUFA competitions disciplinary panel has fined one million shillings to Wankulukuku based and struggling Express FC for hiding match day balls during their Uganda Premier League game against Mbarara City FC.

On April 11, Express in a bid to move closer to the safety zone beat Mbarara City by a goal to nil thanks to a David Ndihabwe 12th minute goal.

However, according to the FUFA disciplinary panel, following a petition from the Uganda Premier League secretariat, they reviewed the reports of both the match assessor and the referee and found out that in the 78th minute, the hosts hid the match day balls on top of recalling the ball boys.

“This act contravened article 16.9 of the Uganda Premier League rules 2017/18 and also goes against article 30.2 of the FUFA competitions rules 2017/18,” says the report signed by Deo Mutabazi, the panel’s chairman.

“Accordingly, Express FC is fines shs 1,000,000.The Competition Disciplinary Panel may revise this amount upwards if it is not paid by April 26.”

The report also says the fine takes immediate effect before advising Express to appeal if they feel not satisfied with the decision and punishment.

Before the league begun, the Uganda Premier League board CEO Bernard Bainamani warned clubs against hiding match day balls .
