SC Villa host Vipers in Masaka in potential Uganda premier league title decider

Tuesday afternoon will not be an ordinary day at the Masaka Recreation grounds at record champions SC Villa hosts Kitende based Vipers SC in the Azam Uganda Premier League.

The hosts are at the top of the Azam Uganda Premier League on 9 points, only six above the  visitors who are third with  a game in hand.

First, the game has been dubbed by many as this year’s title decider because a win for the blue side will mean they have shot higher on the summit whereas Vipers’ win will move them only three points within Villa’s reach with a game in hand.

Both teams have been in quite form in the last five games, with Villa winning four times and drawing once whereas Vipers has won three games and drawn two.

The battle on Tuesday will be epic because both teams will be renewing their rivalry following the first leg match that ended one nil in favour of the hosts, thanks to a Tom Matsiko freekick .

During the first game, SC Villa supporters and team officials were not convinced on how their team lost and they blamed the referee on their loss.

They will be seeking to revenge the humiliating loss at Kitende.

The Jogoos will be seeking to make the day hard for their former skipper Tadeo Lwanga who they say betrayed them by crossing to Vipers last season.

On the other side, the lanky midfielder will try to prove to his paymasters that they made the right decision to lure him from tomorrow’s enemies.

“We are preparing for a tough match. It is an important match both for us and rival. We understand everything. We know the strength of our rival and we will try to fight on the field until the end,” Tadeo Lwanga told the Vipers’ official website.

The home side will bank on the services of their top marksman Martin Kiiza in a bid to sink Vipers and add onto his nine goals he has in the Azam Uganda Premier League.

Meanwhile, on the other side, Vipers will rely greatly on the services of Milton Kariisa and Dan ‘Mzee’ Sserunkuuma to save their day in Masaka on Tuesday afternoon.

Villa have never lost a game since shifting base to Masaka Recreation Grounds and the worst they have got was a draw.
