Makerere University students are currently engaged in running battles with Uganda Police Force on the university campus. Students are attempting to demonstrate against new university proposals that will see evening classes scrapped. The university also plans to stop providing meals for students.

Police have fired teargas and live bullets to try and disperse the students who are attempting to stage marches.
