Suspects in the murder of Finnish national at Aya Hotel released on bail

Buganda Road Court chief magistrate James Mawanda Eremye has on Tuesday released on bail five people accused of causing the death of Thomas Juha Petteri Terasvouri, a Finnish national at Pearl of Africa Hotel in Nakasero, Kampala.

Terasvouri who had just come to Uganda from Finland was found dead under unclear circumstances in his room at the Pearl of Africa hotel in Nakasero before five people were arrested and charged with attempted murder.

The suspects in the case include Apollo Kyabagye,a senior intelligence officer with ISO together with Faridah Naggayi (girl friend to deceased), Fatumah Kabagambe (sold drugs), Nasif Walusimbi (special hire driver) and Caroline Alinda.

On Tuesday, Buganda Road court released the suspects on a cash bond of ten million shillings each whereas Caroline Alinda was released on a non cash bond of ten million shillings because she is pregnant and not able to raise the money.

In his ruling, Eremye said that it would be unfair to keep Alinda in jail in her current situation of pregnancy which requires medical attention.

Previously, the state had told court that investigations into the matter had been completed prompting court on Tuesday to set April 24 as the hearing date.

The group was charged with unintentional causing of death of the Finnish international and forgery of a letter from the ISO Director General, Col.Kaka Bagyenda and trafficking narcotic drugs and psychotropic substances including cocaine that they administered to Terasvouri leading to his death.
