High Court judges transferred in new Judiciary changes

Following recent transfers in the judiciary, another reshuffle has number of High Court judges moved to new courts around the country.

According to a circular dated April 6 from the chambers of the principal judge seven judges have been transferred from their current stations to new ones.

The new changes have seen Justice Wilson Masalu Musene who has been heading the High Court in Mpigi transferred to Fort Portal in the same capacity

Musene recently  withdrew from the case in which 19 Muslims including Aisha Nakasibante, an in-law to Australian based Ugandan cardiologist Dr.Aggrey Kiyingi are accused of plotting to over throw government by use of firearms between 2013 and 2015 at various places in Uganda, Dubai, Kenya and Tanzania.

He later changed his mind and returned to hear the case in which the suspects have been on remand since 2015.

Other judges who have been transferred include Vincent Okwanga who has been in Gulu and is now deployed at crimes division of the High Court in Kampala, Anthony Oyuko Ojok who has been in Fort Portal has been posted to head the court in Arua.

Newly appointed judge, Olive Kazaarwe Mukwaya who was a few weeks ago posted to the commercial court has now been transferred to the family division of the High Court whereas Emmanuel Baguma who had been posted to Gulu is now deployed in Mpigi.

Justice Wejuli Wabwire who had been deployed in Fort Portal is now posted at the Commercial court in Kampala.

The circular from the Principal Judge however clarifies that the fresh deployments are subject to completion of the partly heard cases that are in advanced stages at their current stations.

“There should be delivery of pending judgments and rulings preferably before taking on new work at the new stations,” adds the circular.
