Winnie Mandela was an icon for women, says Pan African body

Following her death on the 2nd of April, Winnie Madikizela Mandela a renowned South African political activist has been eulogised globally.

In Uganda, the Pan African Women Organisation (PAWO) credits the late for her big bearing on women which went beyond her native South Africa.

Rose Zimulinda a Pan-Africanist said Winnie’s influence epitomised the ability of women to cause change.

According to the head of Research at PAWO, Bongobingiman Ruhinda, women need to appreciate and harness the power they have.

The secretary, Pan African Women Organization, Grace Kabayo called upon women to support each other because this will make them a stronger.

Winnie Madikizela who died at 81 years of age, served South Africa as a member of parliament since 1994 until her death.

She will be buried on April 14.
