The Bishop of Namirembe Diocese Wilberforce Kityo Luwalira has urged Christians to always speak out against evil acts in the country.

Bishop Luwalira was delivering his Easter sermon to hundreds of Christians who gathered at St. Paul's Cathedral, Namirembe to celebrate the resurrection of Jesus Christ.

In his sermon, Bishop Luwalira said that many Ugandans currently live in fear of death because of the rampant murder of women, fake drugs, machete wielding men, increased kidnaps and domestic violence among other crimes.

"All these have cultivated fear among people, people are scared for their lives but as we celebrate the resurrection of Jesus today, let us all resurrect with him and begin a new life." said Luwalira.

He criticized members of the public who argue that religious leaders should stick to their spiritual roles and not speak about issues concerning the country and its people.

"When we speak about some of these things, we are attacked that we should not be speaking and that we are overstepping our mandate, we always speak in good faith." said Luwalira.

He urged Christians to always speak out against all the evil in the country to help cause change. ]"Always speak out, even when you remain standing along...speak out against the murders, against the greed, hatred and others. God wants us to have peace and live in unity." Luwalira told Christians.

With Easter marking the end of the Lent period, Luwalira also appealed to Christians to keep their faith and continue meditating on God's commandments to them and to keep away from sin.

Some of the key dignitaries that attended the Easter prayers included former Prime Minister Apollo Nsibambi, former Deputy Chief Justice Steven Kavuma, Buganda Kingdom Speaker Nelson Kawalya, the Kingdom's Finance Minister Waggwa Nsibirwa, Rubaga Division Mayor Joyce Nabbosa Ssebugwawo and others.

Earlier, there was drama when a man identified as Herbert Kadu stormed the Easter prayer service clad in a back cloth.  Kadu who came driving a Super Custom vehicle and parked it at the Church's main entrance before jumping out and beating Police security into the cathedral.

All was well until the end of the service when Kadu ran through the aisle holding a big stick to the Holy Altar and dived in. It is believed that Kadu's aim was the man of God Luwalira, but he took a tumble before landing on his target.

Kadu was whisked out and handed over to authorites.
