Police have arrested a boda boda rider suspected to have knocked dead Teddy Seezi Cheeye before taking off.
Cheeye,the former director for Economic Monitoring in the Internal Security Organisation (ISO) was knocked dead by a speeding motorcycle in Nakawa ,along the Kampala- Jinja road.
However, according to police,they arrested Roger Kirya,32 who was found hiding in Mbuya following the incident.
“The deceased’s daughter told us that Cheeye was knocked by a boda boda cyclist ridding UEH 773R as he was taking a walk in Nakawa. We mounted a hunt and we arrested him today,”Kampala Metropolitan police spokesperson Luke Owoyesigire told the Nile Post.
He added that the suspect is being detained at Jinja Road Police Station from where he will be taken to court .
Cheeye returned from Luzira prison last year on March 3 after serving a 10-year sentence following his conviction on corruption charges on April 8, 2009 and was set to celebrate a year out of prison when he was knocked dead.
