Police prepares to transfer remains of American tourist to Mulago

The body of an American tourist found dead in Bwana Tembo Safari lodge in Murchison Falls National Park is still lying in the 4th Division Barracks in Gulu town, a day after it was recovered by Police.
The 61-year-old Montie Guy Watson, a resident of Tex City was found dead in his guest room at Bwana Tembo Safari lodge (pictured above) in Nwoya district where he checked in on February 13th, 2018 on Saturday morning.
Police are waiting for Dr. Moses Byaruhanga, the Director of Police Health Services to transfer the body to Mulago National Referral Hospital where a postmortem will be conducted.

Denis Okello, the Nwoya District Police Commander, says the deceased was in the company of a black tourist after being left behind by other tourists who had left for Kidepo National Park.

It is unclear whether the black tourist is a Ugandan citizen but Police says he was the one who asked the Hotel to break into Watson’s room when he failed to show up for breakfast in the morning.

Patrick Jimmy Okema, the Aswa River Region Police Spokesperson says the black tourist is helping Police investigations into the death of the American tourist.

Unconfirmed report indicate that blood stains were found in his bathroom.

Tom Okello Obong, the Assistant Director of Uganda Wildlife Authority in charge of Murchison Falls National Park hasn’t yet commented as he couldn’t be reached on phone.

The American national is the third foreigner to die in hotels in Uganda this month after two Europeans died in Pearl of Africa and Sheraton Hotel in Kampala on February 5th and 6th respectively.

Police identified the dead European in Pearl of Africa Hotel as 42- year-old Tersvouri Toomajuha Petteri, a Finish national while the one at Sheraton hotel was a Swedish national 41-year-old Alex Sebastian.

In October 2015, a Dutch Tourist Sofia Isabella Federika, disappeared when she went for a short call in Murchison Falls National Park. The incident happened from Uganda Wildlife Education center, few meters from Paraa Safari Lodge.
