Police Professional Standards Unit has started investigations into circumstances under which  Kampala South Regional Police Commander Siraje Bakaleke and several other officers fleeced a Korean investor of Shs 1.4 billion.

It is reported that two South Korean investors Park Seunghoon and Jang Shingu Un were scheduled to meet some gold dealers in Kampala but were instead surrounded by security operatives who asked them to handover the money they had.

According to a police officer privy to the investigations the police officers who were working on orders of Bakaleke would later force the two investors onto a plane back home.

However, the South Koreans missed the Emirates flight and the police officers from Crime Intelligence decide to buy them air Rwanda tickets but before they could board, operatives from the Flying Squad swung into action arresting them.

On Tuesday, Bakaleke recorded a statement at PSU together with other police officers .The latter were then arrested and detained at Nalufenya.

The police officers now detained at Nalufenya police Facility include; Isaac Munezero, the Officer in charge Crime Intelligence Katwe police station, George Kayongo, Kenneth Zirintuusa and Patrick Ochen.

President Museveni has recently warned that government officials frustrating investments through bureaucracy and corruption could face his wrath.
