The Uganda Muslim Supreme Council (UMSC) yesterday announced changes in the structures of muslim leadership at the districts.
Announcing the changes, Hajj Ramathan Mugala, the UMSC general secretary said districts will merged to form regional structures.
“The Muslim regional structure will be headed by right honourable regional Kadhi,” Magala said.
He said the UMSC seeks to improve service delivery, transparency, social justice and fair processes of work, improvement in management of financial resources and human resources all within one framework.
The new Muslim district structures are as follows: Kampala region has been divided into four districts that include Nakawa muslim district, Kawempe, Makindye and Rubaga Muslim district.
West Buganda muslim region includes Mpigi, Butambala, Masaka, kalangala, Rakai, Bukomansimbi, Lyantonde, Mityana Lwengo, Ssembabule and Mubende muslim districts.
Third region is East Buganda having eight districts of Nakaseke, Mukono Kayunga, Luwero, Nakasongora, Kiboga Kyankwanzi and Wakiso district.
Busoga region has got seven districts including Namayingo, Mayuge, Kaliro, Kamuli, Jinja, Bugiri and Iganga
Districts of Bugisu, Tororo, Busia, Soroti, Butaleja, Paris a, Budaka, Kumi, Teso, Karamoja, Kotido and Sebei.
