Two people were killed instantly on Wednesday afternoon after a bus driver lost control and rammed into a nearby building along Kyaggwe road in Kampala.

The incident took place near Kisekka market when a bus registration number UAS 437P travelling from Soroti crashed two fruits vendors by the road side before ramming into the building.

According to eyewitnesses, when the bus lost control, the driver turned it towards a nearby building from where it hit two fruit vendors killing them instantly.

Kampala Metropolitan police spokesperson Luke Owoyesigyire confirmed the accident by said only one person identified as Lilian Babirye, 16 was killed in the accident.

“We have arrested the driver Michael Omoding 49 who will be charged with causing death through reckless driving,”Owoyesigyire said.

This accident comes barely two weeks following another accident along Sir. Apollo Kaggwa road injured five people when a garbage truck lost control and rammed into a taxi.

Police has in the past years been cracking and impounding vehicles that are in dangerous mechanical conditions but drivers too have found ways of evading law enforcement officers and accidents have continued to happen on Ugandan roads.

Speaking during the liberation day celebrations in Arua, President Yoweri Museveni warned taxi drivers and boda boda riders against recklessness while on the roads which he said has greatly contributed to accidents on Ugandan roads.
