Don't sell property of the dead, Museveni cautions Ugandans

Featured

President Museveni has called upon Ugandans to adopt the European style of keeping property of the dead. He said that Ugandans should find ways of preserving the property of the dead and even adding onto what they left behind instead of selling it off for quick money.

Museveni was speaking at the funeral of the late Nasser Yusuf Waiga who has been the Arua NRM district treasurer and mobiliser on Friday in Arua Municipality.

President Museveni advised the children against selling their late father’s properties. He advised them to keep their father's property in the family and adopt the European style of sharing the property through shares.

“Whenever a parent dies in Africa, especially in families with many women, the children want to divide the property instead of sharing the profits from the property,” he said.

President Museveni pledged to support the deceased’s children who are still in school.

Waiga died on January 22, 2018 in India where he had travelled for a heart surgery.

The deceased had two wives and 23 children.
