Kitatta's rival charged with being idle at Boda Boda 2010 offices, remanded to Luzira

Mwanga II grade one magistrate's court in Mengo today charged Century Boda Boda Riders' Cooperative society chairman  Sula Lubega with being idle at the offices of Boda Boda 2010. Century is the rival organisation to Boda Boda 2010.

On Monday police arrested a number of riders who stormed, vandalised and burnt various Boda Boda 2010 offices in Kampala.

Lubega, according to the charge sheet, was the ring leader of the group.

"Lubega and others still at large publicly conducted themselves in a manner likely to cause breach of peace, " read the charges.

Lubega was also charged with malicious damage of property and office documents belonging to Boda Boda 2010 on Monday.

The state prosecutor Kulthum Mariam told court that investigations are still ongoing and asked for more time.

Grade one magistrate Allan Nyakaana adjourned the case to January 31 before remanding Lubega and others still at large to Luzira prison.

Following the arrest of Boda Boda 2010 chairman Abudallah Kitatta together with some of his members, riders in Kampala jubilated what they termed as the group's downfall.

Kitatta was arrested by the army in connection with the murder of Case Hospital accountant Francis Ekalungar.

Ekalungar's body was recovered at Kajjansi along Entebbe Road on January 3 after he went missing from his workplace.
