Bryan White released on bail

Makindye Chief Magistrate's court has today released city socialite Brian Kirumira also known as Bryan White on bail .

Through his lawyer John Bulombo, Kirumira who is accused together with Thomas Okoth, a police officer attached to Crime Intelligence of attempted murder, applied for bail.

However in response, the prosecutor Happiness Ainebyona said the sureties were substantial and the victim had been discharged from hospital before asking for stringent conditions if released on bail.

In his ruling, Makindye Chief Magistrate Erias Kakooza asked the city socialite to deposit his passport with court before being released on bail.

"You should not leave the country until the case is disposed off,"Kakooza said.

He asked each of the two accused to pay a cash bond of Shs 10 million and their sureties to pay a non cash bond of Shs 20 million each.

The case has been adjourned to January 31 for hearing to start.

It is alleged that Brian Kirumira and Thomas Okoth unlawfully attempted to cause the murder of Victor Bitwire contrary to section 204 of the Penal Code Act.
