Retired justice Kanyeihamba's driver remanded for reckless driving

Hussein Kikulwe 45, a driver for retired justice George Kanyeihamba has been charged before being remanded to Luzira prison for careless driving.

On Thursday evening, video footage showed Kanyeihamba disrespecting traffic police officers who tried to ask him, driver and  police guard out of the vehicle that had damaged another vehicle, a Toyota Ipsum during a heavy traffic jam along Binaisa road in Wandegeya.

In one incident, the retired judge was shown telling officers that he could only speak to their bosses.

According to police spokesperson, Emilian Kayima, Kikulwe together with Willy Byamugisha, the driver of the Ipsum were arraigned before the Law Development Centre magistrates court in Makerere on Friday afternoon.

" Byamugisha pleaded guilty and was fined 1.6 million shillings whereas Kikulwe denied the charge and was remanded to prison until the 18th January 2018,"Kayima said.

He added that the Ipsum driver was taken to court for driving with an expired licence.

During the fracas, Kanyeihamba was shown trying to throw rubbish he had got from the fruits he was eating to boda boda riders who had gathered to find out what was happening.

" The fracas witnessed yesterday was unnecessary. Its important for all motorists to respect the High Way Code and respect other motorists and all road users at large,"Kayima added.
