Three killed in Kabale-Mbarara road accident

A motor accident have claimed the lives of three people and injured several others along Kabale-Mbarara Highway.

The accident occurred at around 7;20am this morning  opposite St. Paul's Secondary School Bukinda in Kakatunda Village in Muhanga town Council in Rukiga district, 29 Km away from Kabale town.

The accident occurred after a Toyota Raum vehicle registration number UAU 460W heading to Kabale from Kampala collided with a commuter Taxi registration number UBA 274U that was in the opposite direction.

Journey Bagamba, an eye witness, said the accident occurred after the driver of the Raum attempted to overtake a box body truck in a corner and collided with the commuter taxi.

Ely Maate, Kigezi Region Police Spoke person, said three people were killed on spot and several other travellers in both vehicles injured critically.

According to Maate, the injured are admitted at Kabale Regional Referral Hospital.

They were rushed to hospital by a police vehicle and an ambulance donated by the Rukiga county Member of Parliament, Hebert Kabafunzaki.

The identities of the accident victims were not readily available by the time of filing story.
