Bridge International, Watoto partner to advance education for the poor

Bridge International academies, a social enterprise and the world’s largest low-cost education service provider and Watoto Uganda, a church based non profit organisation are in discussions to partner and see how they advance education for the under privileged.

According to a tweet posted by Bridge Uganda Country Director, Morrison Rwakakamba, on his official account, top officials from Bridge Uganda and Watoto held a meeting on Wednesday morning in the capital Kampala.

“We discussed convergence points on how to help disadvantaged children acquire affordable, quality and value driven education,” Rwakakamba wrote in a tweet.

Some of the sources that attended the meeting told The Nile Post that the parties discussed among others how they can work together to ensure that the over 700,000 children who are out of school in Uganda can access quality education.

“Rwakakamba proposed that Bridge could partner with Watoto on how the childcare ministries can leverage on the technology that Bridge is using in advancing quality education in their different schools across the various Watoto homes”, a source disclosed.

Meanwhile Watoto’s emphasis remained on how the two entities could work together to better the lives of parents who take their children to schools run by Bridge as a way of impacting the lives and future of the children through nurturing their spiritual values.

“One of the people who attended the meeting was Pastor Hannington Opondo, a senior member of the church who articulated how the church can extend the gospel of Jesus Christ to the pupils and their parents” the source said.

Other members who reportedly attended the meeting included from Watoto included the Executive Director Martha Mwesigwa, Andrew Kironde, Director of Education, Paul Kyeyune, the Operations Director while Bridge was headed by Country Director Morrison Rwakakamba, Customer Experience Director Elizabeth Asimwe Kankya and Government Relations Manager Duncan Ayebare.
