Uganda 14th In Dubai Rugby 7s

Uganda Rugby Cranes lost to Wales 26-7 in a classification game to finish 14th in the 2017 Dubai 7s which ended on Saturday.

" I am happy that we have made good improvement in-terms of general play," coach Tolbert Onyango said after the competition in Dubai.

The Rugby Cranes lost their opening game 19-10 to eventual champions South Africa before suffering another 22-17 defeat to Canada. In the last group game arch-rivals Kenya who reached the quarter final of the main Cup beat Uganda Cranes 29-14.

In the 13th place semi final game Onyango's team humbled Russia 17-12 before losing 26-7 to Argentina in the trophy quarter final.

South Africa beat New Zealand 24-12 to lift the main trophy, while England won the bronze after a 28-21 victory over Fiji.

The Uganda Rugby Cranes will now focus on the Cape Town 7s which takes place next weekend as they prepare for the 2018 Commonwealth Games and 7s World Cup in USA.
