Shaban’s star continues to shine as he guides KCCA past Vipers

New recruit from Arua based Onduparaka FC continued to shine at KCCA FC with a man of the match performance on Tuesday evening as he netted twice to ensure the Kasasiro boys beat Vipers FC at Lugogo in the Azam Uganda Premier League.

The 18 year old drew the first blood at Lugogo only seven minutes into play to give the Lugogo based side the lead but the goal didn’t last long before Yayo Lutimba restored parity through a spot kick, three minutes later.

Muhammad Shaban was back at it on the 19th minute mark nodding home a header of a Mustapha Kiiza free kick to throw the KCCA FC fans into frenzy.

Meanwhile, the young lad was taken off shortly after recess paving way for Derrick Nsibambi but the former’s exit could be heavily felt by the home side who only managed less than five shots on the Vipers’ goal following his substitution.

Lucky KCCA

One could say the home side were very lucky not to have conceded in the second half whereas Vipers were unlucky for failure to convert a number of clear cut chances they created as they put the KCCA back four on pressure.

The Lugogo based side were relegated to clearing the ball away from their goal as well as goalkeeper Charles Lukwago’s heroics to save their day as Vipers were attacking them like an angry and hungry  lion.

Vipers' Tadeo Lwanga battles for the ball with Tito Okello.

However, in the dying minutes of the game, KCCA were let off the hook when substitute Derrick Nsibambi capitalized on a goalkeeper James Alitho who was not good on the day to shoot at the goal for the defending champions’ third goal.

KCCA won the game 3- 1 whereas youngster Muhamad Shaban now boasts of having scored six goals in the three games he has so far played for the Lugogo based side in the Azam Uganda Premier League.

Speaking about the game, KCCA coach Mike Mutebi praised his team for the fighting spirit despite not having dominated the visitors.

“We were beasts without the ball, and better when we had the ball,”Mutebi said of his team.

He praised youngster Muhammad Shaban for immediately clicking into the team despite being new.

On the other side, Vipers coach Miguel Da Costa said his team played well and created a number of chances but were short of converting them into goals.

“We played good football, created chances but were not able to put the ball at the back of the net,” Da Costa said in a post-match press conference.

Express continue suffering

In other games in the Azam Uganda Premier League, new Express coach Shafic Bisaso started on a low when his team was beaten one nil by high flying Police FC at home in Wankulukuku, thanks to a 53rd minute goal from Hood Kaweesa.

The loss only ensured the Red Eagles continued with their dismal performance in the league after winning only three games out of the eleven games they have so far played.

At Masaka recreation grounds,a 67th minute goal from George Ssenkaaba was enough to ensure  home side and record league champions SC villa beat Onduparaka.

Police FC are still top of the Azam Uganda Premier League on twenty three points whereas defending champions KCCA FC are second on the 16 team log with only a point below table leaders.

Army side UPDF are now at the bottom of the log after collecting only six points from twelve games.
