Villa beats KCCA as Onduparaka holds Vipers in UPL

Featured

It was not an easy weekend outing  for giants KCCA FC and Vipers SC in the Azam Uganda Premier League on Saturday.

At Masaka at the recreation ground, defending champions KCCA FC were condemned to their first loss of the season after being beaten by the record league  champions SC Villa by two goals to one.

The home side took the lead only four minutes after kickoff, thanks to Allan Kyambadde's shot that was too powerful for goalkeeper Benjamin Ochan to stop.

The Lugogo side however restored parity through Timothy Awany on the 80th minute mark.

SC Villa was however back in the lead, three minutes later, thanks to striker Martin Kiiza.

The loss meant KCCA's chances of lifting the league trophy for a third consecutive time continued to dwindle after winning only two games  this season in the Azam Uganda Premier League .

Vipers held

Meanwhile in Arua, home side Onduparaka held Kitende-based Vipers SC to a goalless draw in another battle for supremacy in the Azam Uganda Premier League.

The draw meant Vipers have not won any game in their past three outings in the league, losing one and drawing two.

The West Nile side, Onduparaka are now top of the Azam Uganda Premier League with 14 points whereas Police, Vipers and SC Villa are second, third and fourth respectively.

KCCA are sixth on the 16 team log in the Azam Uganda Premier League.
