Besigye picked from Naggalama, driven to unknown place

Police have taken Dr Kizza Besigye from Naggalama police division and are currently driving him towards Mukono.

Besigye and four other FDC officials, have been at Naggalama prison since Thursday following his arrest while he was headed to Kabale district.

The news comes as set back to Besigye and team after their lead lawyer, Erias Lukwago filed a request before Nakifuma Grade One magistrate Sylvia Nvanungi asking for the unconditional release of the FDC leaders.

Consequently, Nvanungi was due to deliver her ruling regarding the matter tomorrow (Wednesday).

Dr Besigye, a four-time presidential challenger; FDCsecretary for Mobilization, Ingrid Turinawe, FDC presidential candidate Patrick Amuriat and Rukungiri district councillor, Innocent Tashobya have been in detention.

The four instructed their lawyers to file a petition seeking their immediate release stating they are being detained illegally.

While Lukwago filed for a court order calling upon the police officers in charge of Naggalama to show up at court premises and answer questions as to why Besigye and colleagues were still under arrest, none of the officers showed up.

The magistrate then heard the case exparte and adjourned the same to Wednesday when she will make her ruling only for police to drive Besigye and co accused to a different location.
