Kigezi High School: 500 students suspended over strike

At least 500 students of Kigezi High School have  been suspended for participating in a violent strike that led to damage of property at the school.

The strike occurred on October 18 and students burnt the White House, a prominent building at the school, after their colleagues were suspended for sexual misconduct.

Steven Mugume, the headmaster, confirmed to Nile Post that over 500 boys were suspended over the violent strike.

He said: “The key ring g leaders were released but the law has to take its course."

Mugume said the ring leaders recorded statements with the police in Kabale.

Following the previous strikes at the school, the management wanted the students that were arrested to be prosecuted. This did not happen.

Kigezi High School is one of the most prominent schools in the sub region. It has prominent alumni including the prime minister, Dr Ruhakana Rugunda.
