Age Limit: Police Blocks Two MPs from Natete Consultative Meeting

Police have blocked Muwanga Kivumbi, the Butambala county Member of parliament and his Makindye East Counterpart, Ibrahim Kasozi from accessing Natete Lorry Park in Kampala.

The two MPs were turned away when they turned up at Natete Lorry Park for a consultative meeting on the presidential age limit removal organised by the Rubaga South MP, Kato Lutwama.

Police blocked the legislators from gaining entry to the Lorry park and asked them to leave. Muwanga Kivumbi was seen driving off to Kyengera while Kasozi returned to the city center.

Despite blocking the two legislators, Police allowed Rubaga South MP, Kato Lutwama continue with the consultations. Lutwama told the voters to calm down, saying the MPs will join them later.

Recently, Asumani Mugyeni, the Director of Operations Uganda Police Force directed all Regional Police Commanders, District Police Commander and Officers in Charge of Police Station to block joint consultative meetings by opposition legislators.

He said each legislator is expected to consult in a constituency that he/she represents. By the time of filing this story, a number of Kampala Capital City Authority councillors and those from the Divisions had already taken to the podium to address the voters.
